Clinton And Trump Clash In Tense First Presidential Debate

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump speaks as Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and moderator Lester Holt listen during Monday night's presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

The first presidential debate was a tense affair between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as they clashed over their economic and trade plans, national security and race relations in the U.S. The Republican nominee came out aggressively against Clinton, often interrupting her and talking over her, but the Democratic nominee didn't pull her punches either and had plenty of zingers ready. And as the night wore on, Trump appeared repeatedly rattled as he was pressed on his past support for the birther movement and controversial comments about women.

Moderator Lester Holt of NBC News mostly stayed out of the fray, letting the two candidates go at each other, but he did press Trump on his questions back in 2011 as to whether President Obama was born in the U.S. Earlier this month Trump said he did believe the president was born in Hawaii, but he again falsely claimed that Clinton's campaign had started the rumor and he said he was proud of the push he led.

Opinion: There is no sin in premarital affairs

There are so many things controlled by religion in Nigeria, sex is one of them. For many religious groups having premarital sex is a taboo, a crime, a sin; however, in this piece, Patrick Benblag gives reasons why some dogmas must be made away with.
Premarital sex is seen as a sin because of our many religious inclinations, there is nothing immoral about it says Patrick Benblag

An infringement on the rights of the individuals is what Patrick sees labeling premarital sex as. He claims it goes way beyond sex and eats deeper into our lives and then rubs off on the society.

Premarital sex debate

The subject matter of premarital sex whenever it pops up in social discussions is one that is bound to engender loads of altercations and contentions especially as regards the rightness or wrongness of it. This simple yet complex social issue is one deserving of utmost attention, especially in our contemporary social setting that is fraught with decrepit logic and unsubstantiated justifications for the positions adopted by the opinionated segments of the society.

The question as to the justification of premarital sex or sex wholly, is one that ought to be answered or approached from the aspect of morals or naturally negative/positive consequence(s). When one relishes in a vista of what is obtainable in our society today, the reverse is the reality. However, a problem arises when we either as individuals or as a society, try to appraise practical social issues that borders on the natural existential conditions of man in the society with arcane religious/metaphysical abstractions. The consequence is a logical error which takes the form of a naturalistic fallacy.

This is because the question of “sex” is one that is intrinsically tied to the individual’s personal choices and natural freedom and constitutes one of the fundamental individual/human right(s). Sex, matrimonial or pre-matrimonial, is similitude to freedom. It is one of the things the freedom to exercise which gives the individual person a sense of humanity and natural self realization as an entity. Denying a self actualizing and free moral agent the freedom to make this choice is similar to slavery.

3 Signs That You Need a Raise at Work

Asking for a raise does either of two things to your image. First, it may make you seem like someone who has gotten the confidence to ask for something that you have deserved a long time ago. Either that or you just stain your reputation by appearing as someone who is asking for a higher compensation without putting in the work to do so. That being said, we usually don't ask for a raise. We work hard at the workplace and we hope that our efforts are recognized for us to either be given a raise or a promotion. However, there are a few scenarios where you absolutely must ask for a raise.

 Honest Work

The first is, as mentioned above, when you know that you have been working hard for the past year or more and you've never gotten a promotion.

Building Lasting Professional Relationships

A healthy relationship in a corporate environment is a big deal. It is one of those fundamental elements that separate successful businesses from struggling ones; fast growing start ups from stagnant ones and high productive employees from their colleagues.

Yes! It is that important! Perhaps you may have come across terms like "Joint Ventures", "Mergers", "Partnerships", among others. Strong relationships make them happen.

Like other forms of relationships, healthy relationships with colleagues, partners and customers do not just happen overnight. It takes deliberate actions to sustain them. How then can you achieve this?

 Communicate often

Even though holidays are great opportunities to extend goodwill messages, look out for when someone within your professional network is celebrating an accomplishment and extend congratulatory messages to that person.

Exclusive: See burial sites of four Oonis of Ife (Photos)

In Yorubaland, it is believed that kings do not die but ascend to heaven to meet God thus final resting places of Yoruba kings used to be shrouded in secrecy. On a visit to Ife in September, we gathered that out of the 50 Oonis of Ife that have passed on, only the burial sites of four are known. And we got the rare opportunity to see and capture in photos the final resting places of these four past Ooni of Ife.

 Check them out:

 1. Ooni Adelekan Sijuwade Olubuse 1

He is the first Ooni to reign in Ile Ife after the end of the Ekiti Parapo war. He reigned from 1894-1910. He was the first Ooni to have travelled out of his Ife domain to Lagos and this made all Yoruba obas, on his way to Lagos, vacate their stool as he passed through their towns. While in Lagos even the colonial masters dared not look him in the eye.

6 Nigerian states that could still enjoy in recession

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has said the economy shrank into recession by 0.36 percent to hit its lowest point in 25 years, in the first quarter of 2016.

However, amidst the country’s recession, there are some states that may not feel the harshness of the economic while the recession last. These states are viable to the extent of survival due to their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) capacity within the state with or without the monthly statutory allocations from the federal government. Here are 6 states that could still cushion recession harshness with their IGR:

1. Lagos

The metropolis state with about 20 million population, was ranked highest in terms of IGR volume with a total of N268.23 billion during the year. Meanwhile the recent oil discovery, entitles the state to 13 percent derivation for oil producing states. However, the state government can boost effective utilization if its internally revenue for running the state affairs, as the state still remains the financial centre of the country.

Technological advancements, especially those around the internet its capabilities have brought in so many opportunities that people can take advantage of and make money in the process. 10 Ways To Get More Traffic To Your Website For Free

Everything you do online is more or less pointless without having traffic. You can have the best designed website or the best products for sale but if you never get any website traffic, you won't have an online business. You can pay for traffic to drive visitors to your website or you can use free website traffic strategies. Here are 10 ways you can increase the amount of free website traffic you receive.

1. Know Your Keywords

Keywords are the words that a potential customer will type into a search engine when looking for products or services that are relevant to your online business. Make sure that your website content includes these keywords. The search engines provide a potential customer with a list of websites that match their keyword search.

 2. Build An Email Database

When you have an email database list of prospective customers, you send emails to your list to direct them to your website whenever you post or upload something new on it.

3. Email Signature

Add your website address into your email signature. Ask your readers to share and visit it.

The Myth of the "Black Vote" Determining the Presidency

Election Day is near. Now springs to life, more so than normally, an exaggerated sense of importance expressed by the liberal media--as well as many prominent blacks themselves--of African-American voting in a presidential election. This baseless and erroneous agreement among these pontificators of race and politics in this country--perhaps the leader of all of them being Barack Obama's unofficially appointed "Potentate of All Things Black in America From Sea to Shining Sea," Reverend Al Sharpton--that winning the "black vote" by overwhelming numbers is paramount to any person seeking to be elected President of the United States, and especially so in 2016. Concerning all this cacophonous dialogue regarding the so-called "black vote," who, except for the left wing, uber-liberal press corps (long-time Hillary lovers down to nearly the very last one), or certain black leaders such as Sharpton, gives a damned really about how many black votes Trump will or will not get? It simply is so far down the list of priorities of Donald Trump--or any presidential candidate including Hillary Clinton--that it barely weighs in on any discussion of election statistics if objectively considered.

5 Outstanding Made in India Technology Products

Introduction

India has been a treasure-house of talent. We can understand if we look at the glorious past we had during the medieval times. When westerners were looking for the clues to solve scientific problems, India's illustrious ancestors had solutions in their minds. However, these solutions were not properly documented. Hence, many of those solutions got embroiled in controversies in later centuries. When the time passed on, the western counterparts happened to rediscover them. Later, they applied for the patents. This has happened in case of many proprietary medicines derived from herbs. The current ruling dispensation under Narendra Modi has understood the need for giving fillip to the local brains so that they come out with outstanding products and technologies for the welfare of the community as a whole. In light of the new initiatives by the central government, let us look at the some of the outstanding Indian technology-based products we have come across since India got independence. These products have made India proud internationally. In this article, let us look at some of the outstanding technology products that Indians have indigenously developed.

Fresh Steps to Build a Value-Adding Network

We all know the importance of having a good social and professional network. Networking is emphasized again and again in any business or career-related book or blog you read. Networking is important, but it has to be the right network. The concept of networking yourself is like driving a car. If you want to reach a place, you simply drive there; but, if you don't have a destination in mind and start driving in any direction, you are only wasting your time. Networking has to be value-adding for it to be worth your time. Here's how you can ensure the network you build is adding value:

1 - Identify Key Players

If you want a network that can give you an edge over your competition, you will need to fill your network with key players - people who have the power to influence others and promote you. Often, key players will be obvious. It is easy to see that you need to be in touch with people in upper management as well as people in executive positions.

The fact that up till now, there has been no official statement by the RCCG in reaction to the issue raised in the media in the first place, to me, is an admission to all the facts placed before the public by the church.

They knew what evil they did to me, but God turned it for my good. The only response to this came through a phone call exactly after five days after the first press conference from the assistant general overseer, AGO, admin and personnel, Pastor JF Odesola, requesting for a meeting with me at my convenient time and place on behalf of Pastor E A Adeboye, the general overseer of the church whom he said was travelling out on ministerial assignment.
