NLC Strike: Workers resume fully in Edo

Jethro Ibileke/Benin: Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) appears to be loosing the grip on workers in Edo, as the indefinite strike declared by its leadership to protest the fuel price increase suffered serious setback.
Workers in the state public service shunned the sit-at-home order and resumed work at their duty posts.
Workers were seen at their respective duty posts at the various ministries visited.
They apparently heeded the warning of the State Head of Service, Mrs. Idahor Gladys, who in a statement on Wednesday said the government would not hesitate to invoke the ‘no work no pay’ rule for any worker that joined the strike, adding that the strike was illegal.‎
Some leaders of the NLC in the state, led by Emmanuel Ademokun, walked through two major streets of the town in protest.
Ademokun who insisted that the strike continues even though workers were at work, appealed for artisans to join the protest.
The situation was, however, different at some public schools as pupils were sent away for the second day, an indication that teachers defied the state government order to resume work.
