Breaking: Wole Soyinka visits President Buhari (Photos)

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has paid a courtesy visit to President Muhammadu Buhari inside the Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja on August 11, Thursday.

The meeting is holding behind closed doors inside the president’s office.

Mr Soyinka arrived about 11:00am local time and went straight to the president’s office. Speaking with the journalists after the meeting professor said he had come to see the president on some national, international and general matters, promising to organize a press conference later.

He said: “I will be holding a press conference in about a week. You can ask me any question then, but now, please I will just like to get away.”

The literary icon had last month voiced his support for President Buhari’s fight against corruption, with a call for the imprisonment of corrupt politicians to serve as deterrent to others.

Former president Goodluck Jonathan last week visited his successor, President Buhari, at the Aso Rock. Ex-president while addressing state house reporters later said he as well as Ijaw elders and traditional rulers were working to ensure peace in the Niger Delta region.
