Dogara begs Siasia regarding Nigeria vs Denmark

The speaker of The House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has sent a heartfelt message to the national U23 team known as Dream Team VI, not to boycott its quarter final match against Denmark on Saturday, August 13 at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics game.

The Speaker who was spoke against the issue of complaints of U 23 Head Coach, Samson Siaisia, that the players were not willing to train and could boycott the encounter because of unpaid allowances and wages.

Dogara urged the Dream Team to put Nigeria first as a fulcrum of their campaign, as he will in his own capacity do all within his powers to help solve the issue.

The Speaker stated that Dream Team VI with players like John Mikel Obi, Yakubu Umar, Oghenekaro Etebor and William Troost-Ekong all have a great opportunity of repeating the feat of the Atlanta ’96 Dream Team led by the legendary Nwankwo Kanu. Therefore, the team should be supported by all Nigerians.

“We will do all we can to ensure that all entitlements due to the team are paid, as we are already talking to relevant government agencies.” The Speaker said.

Dogara observed that football was the major unifying factor in Nigeria, thus, it should be maximized by all for the country’s continued joy and unity, adding that “we will stop at nothing to ensure that we get the team to excel in Brazil and for Nigeria to recreate the watershed of Atlanta ’96.”

It should be recalled that Coach Siasia was held responsible for Dream Team VI’s 2-0 loss to Colombia in their final group game.
