 In the favorable section, which showed those who favour the militant group ISIS, Jordan had 1%, Turkey 8%, Pakistan the highest with 9% while Lebanon did not favour the group at all. 

A recent poll conducted showed Nigeria as the most sympathetic country towards the Islamic State militants.

The Surveys conducted by the Pew Research Centre, in countries with large Muslim populations, polled people based on their feelings towards the militant group.

The infographic chart which showed the views of those polled under “unfavorable, favorable, and don't know”, was produced by the Statista. 

 In the favourable section, which showed those who favour the militant group ISIS, Jordan had 1%, Turkey 8%, Pakistan the highest with 9% while Lebanon did not favour the group at all. The African nations polled higher with Senegal polling 11%, Burkina Faso 8%, and Nigeria the highest with 14%.

Four Police officers were on Thursday night, July 7, killed by at least two snipers in Dallas, Texas, United States, AP reports. 

The officers reportedly opened fire on the officers during a protest, leaving seven others were injured.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria (COAS), has heaped praise on his men, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari is proud and satisfied with their conduct. 

Speaking during his visit to the 119 task force and armed forces special forces battalions’ temporary harbour at Kangarwa in Borno state, Buratai commended the military for the progress recorded in the clearance operations in the northeast, The Cable reports. 

Buratai however urged his men to sustain the tempo as they advanced towards other border communities in northern Borno, as he prayed for the successful completion of their task in the region.

Many feared dead as rival cult groups clash in Ikorodu

– Cult clash in Ikorodu causes residents to panic 

– Reports say more than six people have lost their lives 

 – Residents are warned not to leave their homes for safety reasons 

There is serious panic in Ikorodu, a suburb of Lagos, as residents of Adamo, Mojoda, Arora and Ipoyewa are being terrorised by rival cult groups.

 In a telephone conversation with one of the residents, it was gathered that a fight ensued between the Black Axe and Eiye confraternity groups on Wednesday, July 5, leaving more than six people dead in the process. 

The woman who pleaded anonymity also said that people have been restricted from leaving the confines of their homes by members of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and vigilante groups in the area. 

According to her, some group of persons suspected to be members of the Black Axe cult were dressed in all black and each of them carried machetes. 

 The reason for the clash, it was also revealed, was that the Black Axe group wanted to get even after the other cult group killed many of their members during a recent clash. 

This is not the first time that violence has been reported in Ikorodu and its environs as some alleged Niger Delta militants last month, unleashed terror to landlords in area, killing over 30 people, leaving many others injured.

Transformer explosion kills pregnant woman, 5 others in Abuja

There was pandemonium at the Tundunwada area of Lugbe, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory when a transformer exploded and electrocuted six people, including a pregnant woman. 

Four people were critically injured during the incident, including a six-year-old boy, Destiny Okolo, who suffered injuries on his face and left ear, The Punch reports. 

The incident was said to have happened around 9pm on Saturday, July 2.

Nollywood Actress Bukky Ajayi is Dead

Veteran Nollywood actress, Bukky Ajayi, is dead.

According to reports on The Punch, a source disclosed that she died an hour ago but refused to give details. On Monday, February 2, Bukky Ajayi clocked 82-years and was hosted to a small celebration by her children at her home, in Lagos.

Mama Bukky Ajayi as she is fondly referred to studied drama at the Institute of Drama, London. She later worked a while in London before coming to Nigeria where she started a broadcasting career as an announcer, presenter and newscaster at Nigerian Television Authority. Ajayi was a part of the now rested TV series Village Headmaster. She is seen by many as a living legend of the Nigerian film industry. Despite her advanced age, she still goes on movie location. 

UPDATE: Burial of Late Bukky Ajayi at ATAN Cemetery by 4pm today, July 6. Her body leaves her residence 20, Alawode Street, Surulere, Masha beside Kilo Hotel. May her soul rest in peace.
